During your first visit, one of our experienced physicians will perform a thorough evaluation of your legs. This includes a clinical examination and discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and concerns. Based on this assessment, your provider will determine whether vein disease is present, if further diagnostic testing is needed, and whether you are a candidate to move forward with the next step in a personalized treatment plan.
If indicated, a comprehensive venous ultrasound will be performed by our dedicated ultrasound technician. This noninvasive, pain-free test evaluates blood flow and vein function and allows us to create a detailed “vein map” of the affected areas. The ultrasound typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours and provides essential information for both your physician and your insurance provider.
After the ultrasound is completed, your physician will review the findings with you in detail. Together, you will discuss the results, confirm the diagnosis, and outline the recommended treatment options. This includes determining which procedures are needed and how many treatment sessions may be required. Our team will then submit the necessary documentation to your insurance company for authorization, which typically takes approximately 3–4 weeks. Once approval is received, we will contact you to schedule your treatment sessions.
Treatment is tailored to your specific condition and may include minimally invasive procedures such as ClosureFast, Radiofrequency Ablation, Varithena®, VenaSeal, and Sclerotherapy to close off diseased veins and redirect blood flow to healthier veins. These in-office procedures generally take about 60 minutes per session and have no downtime; allowing most patients to return to normal activities shortly afterward.
After completing your recommended treatments, you will return for a follow-up ultrasound. This scan is similar to your initial examination and allows us to confirm that the treated veins have responded appropriately and that no additional problem areas remain.
At your final visit, your physician will review the post-treatment ultrasound results with you. If treatment goals have been met, you will be discharged from care with guidance for long-term vein health. If additional treatment is recommended, our team will resubmit the required information to your insurance provider and coordinate the next steps in your care.
